Arden Kass is an award-winning playwright, independent producer of her own interdisciplinary theatre pieces and two-time Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Fellow, whose plays have been produced primarily in Philadelphia and New York. Expanding her theatre and documentary scriptwriting experience, she now writes for film and TV as well. In 2015, she combined both passions, conceiving and co-creating School Play, a live documentary theatre play. Crafted from over 100 interviews, School Play premiered in Philadelphia, then toured Pennsylvania to dramatize the gross inequalities in public education, and the urgent need to ensure fair and reliable funding for schools across the state. In 2013, Arden’s drama Appetite received an industry presentation at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London; today, she is adapting that script for film. Arden belongs to the Dramatists Guild and BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop in New York, where she is writing a cheeky show about women’s lingerie.
